Pacific Sands Named One of the Top 3 Places in North America to Spend New Year’s

We did a bang-up job welcoming 2011 with a fireworks celebration for the record-books!  The moon was shining over Cox Bay as the festive spectacle lit up the surf in a dance of colours to ooh’s and ahhh’s from the crowd.  We also positioned the show on the beach in front of our webcam for guests that couldn’t be here to enjoy. 

Turns out we’re not the only ones who think Pacific Sands is a magic place to bring in the New Year – travel bloggers Alex and Luke voted the resort one of the Top 3 Places in North America to Spend New Year’s Eve.

The “Alex and Luke project” is all about two best friends who used the power of social media to guide their travels with a mission to experience every province, state and territory in North America. 

Leaving Toronto in March 2010 in their fully-loaded VW Rabbit, the travel-happy Canadians asked Facebook and Twitter followers to vote on where they went, stayed, what they did and even what they ate. 

Alex and Luke documented and shared their adventures via YouTube, the alexandluke.com blog, Facebook, Twitter and every other social media platform they could sink their road trip into.  Nine months and many miles later, they achieved their goal (apparently except Hawaii and Vermont).

We were proud to partake in their most excellent adventure during their visit to Tofino this fall when they stayed at Pacific Sands – check out this fun video.
