Welcoming Special BC Families with “Oceans of Love”

When a child in British Columbia is diagnosed with a progressive, life-limiting illness, two very magical places are there to assist with pediatric palliative care services for the child and their entire family.

With a philosophy around helping children learn, develop and grow to enhance the quality of time they have left, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Vancouver and Victoria General Hospital open their arms to children and families from all over the province.

Like a team of angels rallying around the daily celebration of each child, healthcare professionals and volunteers provide comforting surroundings, personalized programs, medical guidance, support through critical decision making and much, much more.

As a tribute to the incredible work these organizations do and the families involved, Pacific Sands is honoured to partner with SOBO Restaurant, Shelter Restaurant, Jamie’s Whaling Station and BC Ferries as part of the Oceans of Love program.

Each month from January through May and again from October through December, one family from Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and Victoria General Hospital will receive a complimentary 4-night getaway at Pacific Sands including transport on BC Ferries, a family lunch at their choice of SOBO or Shelter Restaurant, and a Clayoquot Sound adventure tour from Jamie’s Whaling Station.

Our Resort Director Stephen Peters said it best… “The Oceans of Love program gives us a chance to welcome families who have been through some really tough times, and it’s an opportunity for those families to celebrate some really good times.”

In fact, we welcomed our first family this past weekend.  We hope they had a wonderful, restful getaway and that they made some joyous, lasting Tofino memories.
