Spring Spotlight on April - Tofino Events + Activities

February 29, 2016
Can words describe the first breaths of spring? Let’s try:  Spring is that knowing feeling of longer days, shifting breezes, and promising blooms that we inhale with eager anticipation. Sounds about right? That feeling is building in Tofino, especially with Spring Break, Easter and all the whale festivities in March, but it’s April we’re spotlighting for all its fun, earthy events and activities.

Earth Day & Earth Week
Given Tofino is practically a terrarium of natural wonder as part of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it’s no wonder Earth Day on April 22nd is extended to a full week of planet-inspired events. Stay tuned on our April Events Calendar for details as they unfold.

Shorebird Festival
If your eyes roll at the though of bird watching, think again. Look up in Tofino and you’ll see more than seagulls. From Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, to Stellar Jays and Western Sandpipers, Tofino has literally hundreds of gaze-worthy species of sea and shore birds.

In fact, now through May, thousands of shorebirds do a fly-by with a Tofino stopover, all part of their annual journey from South & Central America to the Arctic. For a bird’s-eye view on birding, checkout the Shorebird Festival – April 29 to May 1.
