Last month we asked you to share photos from your summer adventures at Pacific Sands for a chance to win a 2-night stay in an Luxury Villa including SoBo dinner for 4 and wine on arrival.  

Who knew we had such talented guest photographers?  With 130+ submissions, the judging was tough but after closed-door deliberations we decided two things. 

First, the deserving winning shutterbug is Craig Stauffer from Vancouver, BC – the spectacular photo he captured of a Cox Bay sunset-skyscape is profiled here.  We also decided to make this a Monthly Photo Contest.

Resort Team Spotlight – Meet the Arellano Family

With an eye on a better life for his family in Canada, Joel Arellano joined his wife Evangeline in Tofino in 2008 where she had been a nanny since 2005.

After Evangeline organized immigration papers, Joel and children Vincent and Vivian said goodbye to their extended family and came straight to Pacific Sands where Joel was hired in Housekeeping. 

Since then, both Vincent (age 9) and Vivian (age 8) have taken to soccer, want to try surfing and are active in school clubs.  The Arellano’s are happy to now call Tofino home and we feel fortunate to have them.
