Primetime Surf Waves + Events on Now
While it’s officially the first day of fall, Tofino has declared it an “Endless Summer” with Surf Season in full-throttle.
Whether you’re an enthusiastic soon-to-be surfer, a seasoned wave-rider, or happy spectator, Tofino is where you want to be for kicked-up waves and events now through October!
As Canada’s Surf Capital, Tofino is renowned for its year round surf-appeal, miles of sandy surf-able beaches, relentlessly awesome world-class waves, and top teaching expertise including Surf Sister – a cool crew of accredited, female instructors that specialize in fun.
Best news is, you can find Surf Sister onsite at our Surf Shack – a place to check-in for your lesson, rent boards, store your own, shower up post-surf, or simply hang-out around the fire-pit and talk waves.
To really capture what’s in store this month and next, we talked to Krissy Montgomery – owner of Surf Sister – the BCASI accredited surf school that’s been making waves in Tofino since 2003.
“Around here, we celebrate the changing of seasons because fall brings waves that really put Tofino on the map. In fact, Cox Bay is arguably the best surf beach in Canada,” states Krissy with her knowing grin.
“So not surprisingly, the new Surf Shack here at Pacific Sands is twice as busy as when we opened last summer, which is why it’s important to pre-book because word’s out and the surf is perfect right now.
“As for our upcoming Queen of the Peak Women’s Surf Championships starting September 30th, we’re now full except for the Princess portion of the competition. It’s grown into such an exciting and fun event for participants and spectators. We can’t wait!”
