Break Loose to Tofino for Spring Break
Every season is uniquely spectacular in Tofino, but when it comes to spring, count on fresh breezes and even fresher ideas for Spring Break, with activities to meet every family’s wish list.
From the arrival of 20,000+ migrating Gray Whales, to the Pacific Rim Whale Festival, we think you’ll agree that the March line-up of Tofino activities on and off the resort sounds like a great time for some good old fashioned family bonding.
Let’s start with holiday savings and our Spring Break-Away Rate March 1 to 31 in a newly renovated, Oceanview Lighthouse Suite.
Next, the family agenda.
Well, suffice it to say there’s no shortage of things to see and do:
2 for 1 Family Whale Watching
We’re not sure it gets any better than being with your family and witnessing 40-ton mammals swimming in majestic Clayoquot Sound. Measuring an average of 45 feet with a tail span of up to 10 feet, Gray Whales are like (really) big, docile, happy fish frolicking about on the way to their summer vacation in the cold Arctic, where they feed before migrating back to Mexico for the winter.
(Sort of like Canadian Snowbirds, only different.)
Enjoy great family value March 1 to May 15 with our 2 for 1 Family Whale Watching special and get a free kid’s fare with every adult fare.
Shout-out to our Whale Watching partner Jamie’s Whaling Station that’s celebrating its 35th season this year. Not only do these renowned pros guarantee a whale sighting, they’re reporting increased orca and wildlife sightings, complete with recent recounts of swimming wolves!
Surf Shack reopening March 1st
After a winter hiatus while Mother Nature was doing her beautiful, annual storm thing, the pros from Surf Sister are back for another season at Pacific Sands onsite Surf Shack.
Book ahead for lessons (for men and women of all ages & abilities) and enjoy the convenient facilities steps from your suite, including equipment rentals, surfboard storage, outdoor showers, and a fire pit to hang-out and debrief on the waves.
Complimentary Saturday Yoga is Back
As if it could get more zen here, bring your yoga gear and your downward dog to enjoy complimentary yoga classes at the Surf Shack, every Saturday starting March 4th, from 7:30 to 8:30am. Space is limited, so be sure to sign-up in Guest Services.
Not an early riser? No worries. Coastal Bliss Yoga is just down the road, and they’ve got their shavasana on all day long with a full schedule of classes.
Pacific Rim Whale Festival
Since 1986 Tofino, Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve have saluted the reliable return of Gray Whales migrating past our shores with a long list of entertaining and educational events.
From March 11 to 26, enjoy parades, whale talks, beach tug-o-wars, sand castle building contests for the kids, and wine and culinary shindigs for mom and dad. Check out full details on the festival events line-up.
