New Tofino Sips, Licks and Flavours
As Tofino’s culinary scene continues to dazzle with a growing list of restaurants earning accolades and buzz, some entrepreneurial locals are making waves with cool specialty products. From kombucha and popsicles to hand harvested sea salt, these food geniuses give new meaning to “natural resources.”
TOFINO KOMBUCHA
What started out as a hobby became a passionate business for long-time local Kelsey Hendricks. Fascinated by the natural fermentation and pro-biotic benefits of kombucha, she jumped on the beverage trend and started Tofino Kombucha in April from the “nano-brewery” on her property.
Kelsey launched with Ginger Lemon and Jasmine Hibiscus and is now working on a third flavour—Apricot Rose—which will be out this fall.
Best part is you can taste for yourself on your next visit. Tofino Kombucha is available in Guest Services right here at Pacific Sands. You can also pick it up at local grocers and eateries around town.
SLICK LICKS POPS
Popsicle season is here—the perfect summer beach snack. Which is exactly what snack-loving, professional chef Sara Grahovac thought when she decided to get into the handcrafted popsicle business. Slick Licks Pops is a locally made, locally sourced, dairy free frozen popsicle.
And with flavours like Lavender Lemon, Pineapple Express and Coconut Coffee dipped in Chocolate, little and big kids are lining up. You can enjoy Slick Licks Pops at TacoFino, the Saturday Public Market and more.
TOFINO SALT COMPANY
When it comes to salt, Tofino Salt Company is no ordinary flavour enhancer. Hand harvested in small batches from the mighty Pacific Ocean by artisan Chris Heisterman, it’s available in three savoury flavours—Pure Flaked, Spruce Tip and Smoked.
