Pacific Sands Beach Resort is located close to Long Beach on Cox Bay, just 7 kilometres south of Tofino on the spectacular west coast of Vancouver Island, BC. With easy, scenic access by land, sea, and air, the following outlines transportation options to fit your time and budget.

Driving?

When you’re as spectacularly remote as Tofino, getting here is part of the journey and the adventure. And who doesn’t love a great road trip? We suggest taking the slow lane with these top stops along the way.

Drive From Victoria, BC
  1. Take Highway 1 North from Victoria.
  2. As you near Nanaimo, the highway splits. Take Highway 19 North (the signs will say Campbell River). Follow 19 North until Exit 60 (Qualicum Beach/Port Alberni) which takes you  onto Highway 4 West.
  3. Take Hwy 4 West and head to Port Alberni Follow the signs through Port Alberni all the way to Tofino. The road will take you through spectacular old-growth forests, Sproat Lake, and the majestic mountains of Sutton Pass
  4. At the Pacific Rim Visitors centre which is located at the Tofino/Ucluelet junction, turn right (North) and follow the Highway through Pacific Rim National Park. This centre has great information on local attractions in both Ucluelet and Tofino as well as staff from Parks Canada with local hiking guides and maps. (Seasonal Operation) After exiting Pacific Rim National Park watch for the signs for the Tofino Long-Beach Chamber of Commerce Information Centre.
  5. The turn off to Pacific Sands Resort is the first left immediately past the Info Centre.

Total driving time from Victoria should be approximately 4.5 hours.

Drive from Nanaimo, BC
  1. Once in Nanaimo, take Highway 19 North until Exit 60 (signs say Qualicum Beach/Port Alberni) which takes you onto Highway 4 West.

Drive from Comox, BC
  1. Head South on Hwy 19 towards Nanaimo and Victoria.
  2. About 50 Kilometers south of Courtenay watch for Exit 60 Qualicum Beach- Port Alberni and Pacific Rim Park.
  3. Take Hwy 4 West and head to Port Alberni Follow the signs through Port Alberni all the way to Tofino. The road will take you through spectacular old-growth forests, Sproat Lake, and the majestic mountains of Sutton Pass.

Ferry from Downtown Vancouver, BC
  1. Head West on Georgia Street, through Stanley Park.
  2. Cross the Lions Gate Bridge.
  3. Follow the Upper Levels Highway, 99-1, to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal total estimated driving time from downtown Vancouver (25 minutes).
  4. Travel on the Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) – Departure Bay (Nanaimo) ferry route it is the most convenient. Please see BC Ferries for ferry schedule times.
  5. Then follow driving directions from Nanaimo to Tofino.
Ferry from Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
  1. Look for destination signs leaving the airport terminal and follow Highway 99 South to Highway 17.
  2. Follow Highway 17 to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal total estimated driving time: about 25 minutes.
  3. Travel from the Tsawwassen – Duke Point (Nanaimo) ferry route is the most convenient. Please see BC Ferries for schedule times.
  4. Then follow driving directions from Nanaimo to Tofino.
Ferry from Washington State
  1. Victoria Clipper: Year-round, daily passenger ferry service between Seattle and Victoria.
  2. COHO Ferry / Black Ball Transport: Year-round, daily ferry service between Victoria and Port Angeles, WA on the COHO Ferry.
  3. Washington State Ferries: Seasonal, daily ferry service between Sidney (33 kms north of Victoria) and Anacortes Washington or the San Juan Islands.
