Since 1973, Pacific Sands Beach Resort has been more than just a place to stay—it’s been part of Tofino’s story. Built on a foundation of family and community, our commitment shines through in every wave, every sunset, and every partnership with local organizations dedicated to preserving, protecting, and uplifting Tofino. In the last decade alone, we’ve proudly invested over $700,000 in cash sponsorships and in-kind donations to support this community we cherish.

Essential Services

Since 1954, Tofino General Hospital has stood as a cornerstone of our community, providing essential healthcare services to both residents and visitors. Seven decades later, as Tofino continues to grow, so do our healthcare needs. We’re honoured to support the Tofino General Hospital Foundation in their vital fundraising efforts for new equipment and facility upgrades, as well as in their advocacy for a new hospital to better serve our community.

We’re also honoured to stand behind Tofino’s Fire Department—our local heroes who are always there in times of need. Their dedication brings protection and peace of mind to everyone who calls this place home. Our contributions reflect our deep gratitude for these vital services that keep Tofino safe and thriving, playing an integral role in the community’s health and well-being every day.

 

Animal Health + Safety

As much as we value our connection to the land, we’re equally committed to the well-being of the animals who share it with us.

  • Through our partnership with the CARE (Coastal Animal Resource + Education) Network, we help ensure local animals are protected. Each year, during Pet Month, we dedicate all pet fees to CARE and other animal-focused nonprofits.
  • We also support WildSafe BC and their Bear Aware program, promoting safe practices that help our community coexist responsibly with wildlife, ensuring a safer environment for both people and animals.

Surf Inclusivity

Surfing in legendary in Tofino, and we’re thrilled to support initiatives that make this experience accessible to more people. The Queen of the Peak Surf Championships celebrates female and non-binary athletes, elevating the sport and shining a spotlight on diversity in the surf. We’re equally proud to partner with the Mułaa Rising Tide Surf Team, empowering Indigenous youth to connect with the ocean. Together with our sponsorship of local pro surfers, Mathea and Sanoa Olin, these partnerships embody the surf culture and adventurous spirit that define our coast.

Arts + Culture

Tofino’s arts and culture scene is as unique as its landscapes, offering events and venues that bring the community together. We’re honoured to contribute to:

  • The renovation of the Clayoquot Sound Community Theatre—a historic and intimate space that has long been a cornerstone for live performances, film screenings, and community gatherings, including the beloved Tofino Jazz Festival.
  • Sponsoring the Tofino Oyster Festival—an annual weekend celebration of our region’s renowned bivalves, featuring premier dishes from local restaurants, live music, libations, and more.
  • Sponsoring Tofino Wine & Dine—a culinary experience that showcases the West Coast’s thriving food scene, pairing wine with creative cuisine from top chefs.
  • Support for the Tofino Adventure Film Festival—a celebration of mountain culture, outdoor adventure, Indigenous and environmental film.
  • Support for the Tofino Arts Council—a non-profit society dedicated to nurturing the creation and sharing of art within the outer coast communities by being an independent, inclusive voice for local artists and cultural organizations.

Eco-Partners + Projects

Surfrider Pacific Rim

With a mission to “protect and enjoy the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people,” we proudly support Surfrider Pacific Rim‘s campaigns and programs, including Hold On To Your Butt cigarette recycling canisters throughout the Resort, and Love Your Beach Clean community clean-up events as well as our onsite Marine Debris Bin.

Coastal Restoration Society

Supporting the resource management and environmental stewardship goals of First Nations, Provincial, and Federal Governments, Pacific Sands periodically helps the Coastal Restoration Society with Clayoquot Sound clean-up efforts, including gathering debris from docks, float homes, and derelict boats.

Raincoast Education Society

From full-scale UNESCO Biosphere Reserve projects to Summer Kids Camps right here at Pacific Sands, the mandate of the Raincoast Education Society is to protect shorelines, wildlife, and sustainable living. This future-focussed group specializes in youth and adult education via a broad range of high-quality educational and interpretive programs such as field school, a speaker series, summer camps, school programs, and events focused on the natural environment, cultures, and communities of the Clayoquot and Barkley Sound region.

Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks Allies

With a goal to uphold the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations’ relationship and responsibilities to its homeland—including guiding, balancing, and informing newcomers and tourists—Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks Allies restore rivers impacted by logging, revitalize salmon habitats, remediate dune-grass habitats, maintain trails, and more. Ask our Guest Services Team about donating 1% of your total stay towards an Ecosystem Service Fee focussed on reinvesting in the people and ecology that comprise Tofino lands or donate directly on the Tribal Parks website.

Supporting Wellbeing on the West Coast

Westcoast Community Resources Society (WCRS) is dedicated to ensuring everyone in our community has access to the support they need to feel safe, seen, and supported. Through counselling, education, outreach, and safe spaces, they empower individuals on their path to healing and wellbeing.

Rooted in trauma-informed, person-centred care, their work reflects a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging. By meeting people where they are and working in collaboration with community partners, they help strengthen resilience across the coast—creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

In April 2026, to commemorate Pacific Sands Beach Resort’s 53rd Anniversary, we proudly supported WCRS with a donation to help expand access to support services.
