Experience Pettinger Point

One of the best things to see in Tofino, British Columbia is Pettinger Point. Named after the Pettinger family—the visionary entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity in 1972 and created Pacific Sands Beach Resort—Pettinger Point has been the backdrop for generations of moments and memories. From family reunions and celebrations of life to proposals, weddings and innocent strolls that led to life-changing revelations, Pettinger Point was there.

Located at the north end of the Resort and Cox Bay, experience Pettinger Point. Watch it unfold before you on the whimsical, wooden Sunset Trail it weaves through a towering canopy of old-growth forest. One step, one intoxicating breath at a time. Massive, moss-covered trees lining the meandering path like gnarled, yet welcoming gatekeepers. The thick salal shrubs open to grassy, seaside flats with the pounding surf of Cox Bay to the south. Rosie Bay and Chesterman Beach to the north, and nothing but Pacific Ocean to the west.

Climb up the rocky bank and you’ll reach the windswept precipice of spectacular that is Pettinger Point. A landmark on the edge of Pacific Sands, high above the crashing waves, it sets the stage for some of the most breathtaking sunsets you’ve ever seen. As you look out to the majesty of the open ocean, just think, the eastern coast of Russia is 4,991 kms away. The island of Japan is 7,429 kms!
