Ahousaht Territory Shoreline Cleanup

Pacific Sands staff were honoured to be a part of an amazing, environmental initiative led by Coastal Restoration Society‘s ‘Clean Coast, Clean Waters’ project. The Clayoquot Sound cleanup was in collaboration with the Ahousaht First Nation, Surfrider Pacific Rim, and M.H.S.S Stewardship Guardians.

On this particular day, we were transported by helicopter by Atleo Air to a bay on Flores Island where we were dropped off in a remote cove along with some burlap and 10-ton collection sacks. Together with the rest of the team, we gathered marine garbage and debris from boats that had washed up on shore, stuffing sack after sack for Atleo Air to pick-up, load on a barge, and ship to shore for recycling and disposal.

We look forward to continuing to volunteer alongside these incredibly impactful organizations.
